London Transport double-decker bus Not the best of shots technically speaking but worth including for its scarcity value. Epsom races duty in June 1949 brought a herd of redundant LT buses to the Downs which included LT727, GT 5160, of 1931 vintage. The first Wednesday in June 1949 was Epsom Derby day and LT was desperately short of, pardon the pun, horsepower. The solution was to press into service an antiquated fleet of buses inckuding some that had been withdrawn from service. This example, LT727, displays the dreaded kiss of death on the front mudguard as it crosses Epsom Downs.
