Portsmouth bus A viewer has kindly pointed out that this is the bus compound in Cosham, Portsmouth and that this area has remained pretty much unchanged. In the last few years the shelter has been moved to Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth and is now a retail outlet. The bus is too distant to make out the registration mark. |

Provincial bus April 1951. Leyland G7 CD 6541, new to Southdown in 1921 purchased by Provincial in 1934 as fleet number 19 (later renumbered to 1). Withdrawn during the 1940s, it was subsequently preserved by the Company until it was destroyed in the Hoeford fire of 18/6/57. Provincial bus CD 7045 is a Leyland G7 with Short O27/24RO body work and originated with Southdown in 1922. She moved to Provincial in 1934 and was set aside for preservation in 1946. In that preserved and immaculate state she was a regular performer at the annual Gosport carnival. She's depicted here in April 1954 during an SCTS visit to the area.
