Vintage bus images don't come much better than this IMHO. August 1951 sees unfrozen STL2664 in becoming green and white livery on route 305A at Beaconsfield with the Earl of Beaconsfield (Disraeli of course) pub as the backdrop. Originally it was called the Railway Hotel. The pub has now been demolished and has been replaced by a Waitrose. Ther expanse of green and bus stop are still there but there is no longer a shelter. The first Wednesday in June 1949 was Epsom Derby day and LT was desperately short of, pardon the pun, horsepower. The solution was to press into service an antiquated fleet of buses inckuding some that had been withdrawn from service. This takes one back! A trolleybus and three half-cab buses. The leading bus is RTW123 whilst the neighbour cosying up to it is either an RT or an RTL. My thanks go to Jon Harry for pointing out the differences between the 8' and 7' 6" bodies. There's another RTW visible in the background and that wears the all-over red livery. Roy Vandersteen suggests that this ensemble was snapped between 11/49 and 5/50 at Halfway House in Enfield.
